Well, that was about perfect

They don' t come much better than today. Some fog to start out with, it was below us when we took off but the road was downhill (not that I'm complaining about that) and pretty soon we were in the middle of it. But we stopped for breakfast after about an hour and by then the fog had completely burned off. So we rode the southern part of the Big Sur coast in brilliant sunshine. And who knows where the touristas in convertibles where, but it seemed like traffic was down 90-95 percent from yesterday. Either we got out ahead of them, they were all based in Monterey/Santa Cruz and we were too far south for them, or the beauty of the day made me oblivious to them.

When the road flattened out in San Luis Obispo county we had a great tailwind to make pedaling at 20 MPH seem pretty effortless (as an aside, it occured to me yesterday that my seat was too low so I raised it 1/2 inch or so and the legs felt like they could move better today. How can it be that I ride 1,500 miles before I notice the seat height is wrong?). And to complete the day we made it all the way to SLO, which made it easy to meet Ali for dinner after she got out of class (or to be more accurate, 6 hours of class). What could be better than that?

Hi Jon....Molly and I are heading down to Paso Robles this weekend for some kind of wine festival. If you were slower (and wanted to go out of your way 100 miles) we could have met up!

Keep up the pedaling...love to read the blog.
